Originating from the Taoist philosophy, yin yoga's lineage weaves traditional Chinese mind and body energetics with an anatomical awareness that centers healthy alignment for each individual. The concept of yin and yang describes an ancient understanding of two primordial energies that make up a balanced whole; moon and sun, rest and action. Yin is where you get the opportunity to slow down and go within.
In this class, you can expect a meditative practice that focuses on stillness, silent presence, breath, and connection to both your inner world, and the natural world. Long held floor based postures using the support of yoga props will be practiced to calm the nervous system, release tension held within the body, and maintain healthy and lubricated connective tissues.

Zahir was exposed to the practice of yoga, meditation, and inner reflection from a young age through the alternative lifestyles of her parents. As a cheerleader, dancer, and gymnast, she moved towards a more dedicated interest in yoga in 2013 as a way to find stillness, deeper connection, mental peace and clarity, and as a form of movement that healed rather than harmed the body.
In March of 2018, she dove into the study of teaching yoga with a 250hr flow-based yoga teacher training immersed in the tropical jungle of what she considers her other home, Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica. From there, Zahir went on to get additional certifications in Yin Yoga as well as Artful Adjusts and Assists. She has assisted in three yoga teacher trainings and taught classes for a variety of audiences.
In her classes, Zahir seeks to honor yoga's traditional and deeply spiritual roots, while weaving in themes from the natural world around us. Her focus is on intentional movement that aligns with the breath; with the goal of helping others find freedom and wellness through fostering a deeper connection with their body and inner self.
